Body Combat 43

Monday 2nd November - 8:00pm

I'd seen Body Combat 43 one and a half times before (yes, seriously - I joined in for the back half of D&R's class one day when they were rehearsing the release and I saw from Track 5 onwards), and already knew which track was my most favourite.

Track 6, by far, is a standout in BC43. Like I was telling Glen Stollery, there's only one word that you can use to describe that track - and that is EPIC. From the first time I saw the track, I thought, "Oh MAN, this is the defining track of the release!"

It was so much to the point that I started messaging Stollery (I'm going to call him by his last name now since people seem to confuse whether I'm talking about Glen Ostergaard; Glens Glens everywhere!) telling him that I was going to bring a sword to the filming, and that he should bring one too, else I'd kick his ass.

...

Not that *I'd* ever kick his ass, being the innocent sweet thing that I am, heeeee!

Although, admittedly, there was a bit of a fake punch up (I made sure I didn't land any, I wouldn't have been able to run out of there fast enough if he chased me!) when I found out that he HADN'T brought a sword, booooooooo! So I was the only one there with a sword, what a shame. Honestly, this track is such the defining one of the release, that it is a bit of a shame that the presenting team didn't have a bit more fun with it.

The team this time were Dan, Rach, Judy from Australia, Marcus from... somewhere (Germany, I think? If anyone was at the filming, could you help me out with this detail? I was preoccupied with fake beating up Stollery with my sword.) Oscar - who was brought over for the Step filming - and Hernan were shadow presenters, so this is a mammoth lineup of 6 presenters! It was great having such a large and diverse bunch on stage, and they all seemed to get along so well. Highlight for me was definitely seeing Judy in action - not only was it a joy seeing her at the filming, but the following day, she team taught with Matt Thraxton at New Lynn, and I joined in on the second half of the class (after Balance, funnily enough. It's quite an odd experience doing Balance and Combat back to back, especially with Balance first!).

Again, I'm probably hypersensitive being exposed frequently to RPM tracks right back from RPM 1 through to the current RPM 44 (with RPM 45 being launched soon), though there were a collection of tracks this time that overlapped with RPM. And let's be clear, this is not overlapping with RPM46, but with RPM itself. So there were several tracks where I went, "Heeeeey... this is an RPM track! I feel weird not being on a bike!", though if I look back at the time period between the RPM release and this Combat release, there has been enough of a gap between tracks used to prevent overplay.

My favourite tracks were track 2 and track 6, though I think I might have to do this release another time to get a better feel for it since my entire body was WASTED from all of the Vive I had done that day! I had very little energy in my arms for jabs and crosses, and my legs were stiff and sore for any sort of kicking. Probably just as well I like to hide down the back for Combat; I would've been a real embarrassment to the program if I'd been anywhere near on camera.

But the flipside of that is that you guys won't get to see my sword.

And yes, I did use it ;-)

Next up...

Great Combat fliming post as usual. I really need to make it up to a fliming.

Am up in Auckland for a couple of days next week, so will at least get to a couple classes there.
