Return of the Mackshmallow

So I'm back, I think. Things are still going to be tough for me, and I think the time away from the blog helped, but now, I need the blog. And so, I'm back. We'll see how it goes.

Plan
  • Body Pump @ 6am
Actual
  • Body Pump with Magali
    • 40mins
I noticed that Hernan was teaching Pump on the online timetable this morning, and while I like Hernan, as a Pump instructor, I'm not going to get up at 5am and drive to town for him, so I instead did Pump at New Lynn with Magali.

It's been a while since I did her class, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I put in a good, solid effort, and increased my weights almost across the board.

TrackWeight ComponentsWeight TotalNotes Goal
Warmup2 x 2.5kg plates + bar10kgIncreased from 9kg to 10kg
10kg
Glutes2 x 4kg plates + bar13kgIncreased from 12kg to 13kg
15kg
Chest2 x 3.5kg plates + bar12kgIncreased from 10kg to 12kg
14kg
Back2 x 3kg plates + bar11kgIncreased from 10kg to 11kg
14kg
TricepsNo bar used
--

12kg
Biceps2 x 2kg plates + bar
9kg
Increased from 7kg to 9kg
12kg

In fact, if the triceps track had not been "Hook Me Up" from BP68, I would've increased the weights in that track as well. I've definitely gotten stronger across the board, and that's awesome. And given how it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be - bar the biceps - it probably won't be too long before I regain my strength in its entirity. But thenagain, I might just have to see how badly the DOMS hits before I make that conclusion.

It was great to do the Squat and Back track and not have any pain - there was a little bit of tension in the back track, but not all that much, and I'm really happy with that.

Magali didn't use any of my favourite Pump tracks, though I should probably always be thankful if I don't do a class with Voodoo Child in it - it always seems to pan out so that the moment you make your return to a class, the instructor just HAPPENS to trundle on out the most difficult tracks.

What's the best on when I return to RPM that the Track 5 will be Paradise City, hmmm? Man, RPM... it would have been Christmas Day that my last class was, Jaci must be spewing. I've tried on the shoes a few times to determine whether or not I'm ready to get back into it, but cycling shoes are hard buggers, and they weren't friendly at all on the foot. I'll need to try them on again and see whether or not I'm good to go to get back into it. (In the meantime, there's some cricket watching to be had so I'll be doing that anyway instead of RPMming, mwahaha. ... What?)

I ordinarily would do Body Balance on a Monday evening, but in the end I decided it would be better to deal with my emotional struggle in a Not So Public setting. I had a very long hot shower, and it was great. Hopefully next week I'll have the emotional strength to do Body Balance again.

Aside from that, am I the most evil person in the world for thinking that 'If U Seek Amy' by Britney Spears would make a great Chest track for Pump? And am I even more evil for thinking that it would be golden if Amy Styles presented said chest track on the release it appeared on?

I'm just saying.... ;-)

Was just looking at your weights, I thought the bars were 7kg not 5kg?

I've heard a range of weights, ranging from 5kg-7kg. I figure, best to be pessimistic ;-)

Going by the weights I use for free weights, I think they're closer to 7 than 5kg...
Means you might have to up your goals as you've met them ;)

Recommend trying out Boot Camp sometime if you haven't done one.

Just signed up for it for the 2nd time around in Wellington.

"Return of the Mack" is one of my nostalgia songs :D Takes me right back to primary school, when I used to manage the sports equipment shed :D Same with "Here Comes the Hot Stepper".

Welcome back! Hope life outside the gym is getting better for you!

I saw you and Fred having a blast at George’s step class yesterday! ^_^

You should have come to last Thursday’s 1:10pm pump class! Guess who taught the class? George, Susan R, Emma & Will!

Scott - Boot Camp is definitely on my wishlist of things to do :-D

Fat Lazy Guy - Hahahaha oh man, the sports equipment shed, now THOSE are memories!

Judes - It'll get there, eventually :-) It was SO FUNNY, Fred and I Stepping together again, I might have to make a habit of it! And Ohhhhhhh I wish I didn't have my physio appointment last week, because if it weren't for the appointment, I would've gone to Pump! *headdesk*

Well, in that case you should consider signing up for the next round they have in Auckland.
Mixes it up a bit from the normal classes...
